Properties:
Acetyl chloride is a colorless liquid that emits smoke when exposed to air, with a suffocating and pungent odor. It has a specific gravity of 1.105 (2 ℃~4 ℃), a melting point of -112 ℃, and a boiling point of 51 ℃~52 ℃. It can be mixed with ether, chloroform, glacial acetic acid, benzene, and gasoline, and can violently decompose into acetic acid, ethyl acetate, and hydrogen chloride when exposed to water or ethanol.
Acetyl chloride is mainly used as acylation and chemical reagents, and is an intermediate in the pharmaceutical, pesticide, and liquid crystal industries.
